Hello form Belgium,
I have an old JS cylindrical grinder , I wish to uprgrade the bearings on the work head to high accuracy bearings ( circularity less than 1 micron) any ideas what clearence in the spindle/bushing and what form I should use for the oil cavitites?
I have acces to high precision grinders and honning machines to make these parts.

costast, First, welcome to the land of crazy and not so crazy. No offense intended, but are there no replacements available? High precision plain bearings like those in grinders are highly engineered and difficult to make. I assume you know that and have already attempted to locate replacement bearings. I did find a site some time ago on the internet pertaining to this subject. I will see if I can find it again and post it. Later

Thanks for your promt reply, Yes the reason I want to do this is because no avalable spares exist and a personal challenge!
The precision does not intimidate me, we work to sub micron (mm) tolerences.
