    Replacing Linear Rails

Has anyone replaced the linear rails on a Partner 1? Where did you get the rails and trucks from and how much did they cost?

I did my Z axis. I got lucky and found NOS on Ebay and got it for 350. You have to take some time and learn the THK nomenclature for the part numbers and what they mean so you can see whats compatible. The old part numbers aren't used anymore so a few different things are drop in replacements with slightly different numbers.

How would one know if the rails needed replacing in the first place?

Mine were so bad you didn't question it. The T portion was more of a knife edge. The head nodded forward around .020.
