First post in a long time. Just got my cnc router dusted off and running again. Experimenting with cutting 3d shapes into wood.
I used a spreadsheet (with a little VBA code) to generate the gcode from a formula: z=(cos(x)sin(y). The spreadsheet will export a Gcode file and a script file (to read into an Autocad drawing). The spreadsheet can be used with any xyz formula. You enter the range to cover and the increment to step. Click the calculate button and the files are written. I got the idea looking at the "QuickGraph" app on an ipad. Anyone interested in this let me know.
Here is the pattern I cut into a piece of pine.
