I just added a 4th axis, programmed and posted code. When I tried to run it the rotary axis motion was very jerky and I realized the rapids are made up of many short moves. Is there a way to eliminate all the extraneous rapids?

What program wrote that code? What happens if you give it a command like G0 A720?

MadCAM, Mach 3_4 axis inch post processor.
It moves smooth and quick as it should with a G0 A720
It sounds like a MadCAM issue, then. There might be a setting in there that makes it write longer A moves, but I don't know what it is. If you can't get it to work right, try a different CAM program, like DeskProto.
Agreed, seems to be a MadCAM issue. This only happens when I started with 4 axis work. I like most things about MadCAM, especially that it is a plugin for Rhino...and I own it. So as a workaround, by changing all of the G00 moves to G01 F500, I can get the code to run smoothly.
I would however like to not have to do that.
