Just asking what i would need for Turcite sizes on my 4020 Fadal
Thanks
which axis? example https://www.fadalcnc.com/brg-0002.html
Hi...The X and Y axis
Thanks
you can buy the kit here https://www.fadalcnc.com/brg-0134.html size i believe for X axis is 2.5 x 42.5 x .062 and the Y axis 5.0 x 16.25 x .062 cut off the extras. Make sure you get the right glue epoxy and the surfaces can have ZERO amount of oil
And to do it right when you machine the turcite and add the oil groove. relieve the middle of turcite maybe .001-.002 better contact , and also at Fadal they polished/sanded/lapped them to fit each saddle & base . What we did was use double sided tape on the ways then put i think 240 or 380 wetdry sandpaper a little oil and set the table on the ways with the sand paper and push and pulled the table to get a nice fit. And then remove and clean it up before fitting all the gibs and straps. You may not want to or able to do that
Thank you very much..now have to find someone close by that can machine a table of that size..
Thanks Again
Any Fadal guy with a 6030 can do it
Can i ask what speed and feed you used to cut the Turcite? Type of cutter?? Is it trimable with a sharp object??
Thanks again
Something for the range of Aluminum 3" dia. at Fadal we used a simple carbide tipped flycutter..... so anything like that say a 3" shell only using 1 tooth 3000 rpm 10-20 ipm. not too fast rpm because you dont want to melt it. And it is easy to cut with heavy scissors or shears
Is it all same type of Turcite? The X and Y Axis.
Thanks... sorry for being a pest
Yes.... you will also have to re-cut the top of the table when your done most likely. And unless you can find someone in canada with a big enough cutter Dia. and length to reach the table, you may have to make your own. Some of the Fadal techs have them and some of them will rent them out. SMS machine tools in canada was the canadian distributor going back to the 80's. good luck
Thanks for the help.//much appreciated!
