    Question Ballscrew Floating Support

    Hi all,

I have purchased a BK10/BF10 ballscrew support kit from ebay (Just a cheap Chinese unit) and noticed that the bearing in the floating support (BF10) doesn't slide axially. I.e. It seems to be a press fit into the housing and isn't even centered.

Is it typical for the bearings to be fixed in:
    1) Ballscrew supports in general ?
    2) In these cheap Chinese units ?

The supplier after some back and forth describing the problem has suggested that this is normal, or at least it happens in another support that they have there. As far as I'm aware the bearing should be free to slide axially and in fact should be able to slide out of the housing as it's usually constrained by the ballscrew itself.

    Thanks,
    -Andrew.

You are correct. If the free end is your standard radial ball bearing and not a angular contact, it should float axially. Doesn't need to be a slippery fall out if you tilted it on end kind of fit, but easily transitioned with mild force directed squarely on axis.

Thank you for confirming, I can get back onto them to resolve the issue now that I know how it should be.
