Question Bosch Colt 1hp palm router...spindle equivalent?

Bosch Colt 1hp palm router...spindle equivalent?

currently running the colt router...was wondering if anyone has knowledge of a spindle equivalent in weight and power, etc.

Don't want to put anything too much heavier than whats currently on there.

    Advice?

    thx

That would be around an 800w spindle and VFD to match the VFD Drive would be most likely a 1.5Kw or you may find one that is 120v single phase input and 220v output that would be ideal and the spindle would be 220v 800w

ok thanks....weight on those would be somewhat equivalent too??

specs say 3.3 lbs on it...for the colt

looks like spindles 800watt are around double the weight ...

yah....looks like i'll have to stick with the colt for now... was just thinking about down the line...but that would require a new machine for me...or at least rebuilding the gantry...it has unsupported rails on the top gantry ...too much flex in it... bought the machine kit before i knew more about cnc rigidity etc....

I'm kind of in the same boat...I have the Makita RTC0701C as a spindle. With the exception of hurricane force winds coming out of the bottom of it blowing chips everywhere, it's been great. I've had it at least 5 years and recently looked at the brushes...still lots of brush left. I was impressed. I can't think of much of a reason to 'upgrade' to a VFD controlled spindle.

I understand...mine's noisy too. I did a job where I 3D machined a guitar neck...took about two hours if I remember correctly. I worried about the router until I looked at the brushes and they're in fine shape. If it does fail, I can buy new one for under $100 from Home Depot.

I ran my Hitachi router, can't think of the model number but it was under $150, it was over a 8 hour job and no issues. Mine ran very quiet and it also had a five year warranty. I have since went to a spindle with more power but that router did ok.
