    Talking 3D Screw Thread in 2000 ???

    Hey All
    Just wondering is it possible to create a screw thread in 3d in autocad 2000

    thats is,short and sweet

    I don't think there is anything in Autocad. The only way I think you could do it is by creating a spiral and sweeping the thread form through the path.

    There are some lisp programs for generating a spiral.

    I've seen wierd things happen when extruding along a spiral path. The objects seem to rotate around the past as they are extruded. But, For ACME screws, I've used multiple spirals (1 for each corner of the trapezoid thread shape and crteate meshes from the spirals. If I make a 1 inch section, I can just use array to make it any length I want.
