    CNC6040 Parallel Port Pinout

    Hi all,

I've just had a CNC6040 delivered (well, it appears to be a 6040) and it claims to have a TX14175 inside (based on the silkscreen on the board inside it).

I'm using LinuxCNC - and despite my best google-fu I'm not getting very far. It doesn't even sound like it's trying to move (let alone actually moving).

I've tried a couple of configs I've found on here for TX14175 boards, but I cannot get it working. The one I thought most likely to work is the following:

    1 PWM
    2 X step
    3 X dir
    4 Y step
    5 Y dir
    6 Z step
    7 Z dir
    8 A step
    9 A dir
    14 Enable
    16 B step
    17 B dir / Relay

It didn't work for any axis. Is there a definitive TX14175 pinout (appreciate that axes might be swapped between models)? Am I likely to have a dead/half-wired parallel port? A dead TX14175?

I've since been through trying the enable pin on every pin apart from 4-7 - and there is no noise from the steppers. They do, however, engage at startup as I hear that.

The actual box itself looks like the attached image.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what to try next?

    Thanks in advance.

    Chris

Hi Chris, have a look at my blog, it might help you set your machine up. If you are using mach 3 software go to “my mach 3 settings” on the top tab, make sure you copy all the settings though.

    Re: CNC6040 Parallel Port Pinout

the reverse engineering skills are a direct result of manufactures not making maintenance information available

I have reverse engineered boards in the likes of my Clarke CL300M lathe
    {no information available for the speed control board }
and as part of my day job maintaining broadcast TV equipment

with manufacturers like BDL Autoscript you can speak to the designer who supplied the circuit diagram of a new monitor

so I could investigate how I could modifying a brand new monitor that been only out of the box for 2 days !!

the problem was the new designed monitor tripped the power supply of the studio camera it was connected

I under stand my modification was made on the production line
