Mach3 and 6040 - something is making engravings larger

    Hey all,

Finally got the 6040 working, bit of a mishmash really, a blue box Frame and a PRT-E1500W controller with a Huangyung (spelling) VFD and everything appears to work as it should except anything I try to engrave or cut out, appears to end up atleast 10 - 15% larger e.g. Engraved a brass plaque then cut out it out (oval shape) now when I designed in Aspire it was 12cm total width - the finished job was 14cm wide. I put that down to a cockup on my part, except last night when I went to cut out some timber ends to build a modular synth last night and I had to E-Stop the machine as it was going to do the same thing as in the height was going from 480 to 520, a guess - hit the E-Stop as it was heading for a clamp.

Anyone have any ideas where to look as to what would be causing it to enlarge jobs, I've never come across this?

    Cheers
    Taff

Sounds like maybe your steps settings may be off. When you tell it to go 100mm what does the accual move measure?

Nailed it Carl, manual settings say 400 dropped it to 320 and bingo 100mm now equals 100mm
