    Exclamation Stepper Question

I am looking in to building the cnc router that www.bigbearcnc.com offers. He suggest using a stepper kit from www.zylotex.com. The steppers that they have are 269 oz. in. steppers w/ a free upgrade to 425 oz. in. steppers.

Ok, my question is, what would be the advantage to the upgrade?

I am new to all this and this may be a stupid question, but a question that I need to ask.

    Thank you in advance.

The advantage is that the motors are stronger, so they are less likely to experience a loss of steps due to strain on the motor.

So what you are saying is that I could take larger cuts without a problem?

Yes it will be able to take larger cuts but the bigger the cut you take then other factors become more involved such as the flex in the machine.

One thing to be aware of is that the larger motors may spin much slower. They'll have more power at slower speeds, but may actually have less power at higher speeds. Usually, when using the larger motors, you'll want to use leadscrews with fewer threads per inch. This will give you higher speeds and keep the motor spinning slower where it has more torque

I too was thinking about getting there upgraded system. Im not to sure if they are a good company to get that stuff from. I hear about Gecko Drives, buts its even more confusing.....
Im working on a RockCliff design, working on making it with much less flex
