AGW makes no sense as a scientific theory. It makes perfect sense as a political agenda.

According to this document, it has been warming faster in Canada than in the rest of the world. Canada is so concerned that it's devised a plan to mitigate "damage functions" by using a supercalifragilisticexpealidoceous computer model called Page09.

Canadians aren't going to put up with global warming any longer, and they will NOT risk losing their queen given right to put white vinegar on french fries!

Huh, white vinegar.....I prefer tomato sauce on fries....and no salt, and that was long before the Queen sat on the pot...LOL.

A 10 foot rise in the sea levels would be about the max you could dream could happen, and there ain't enough water locked up in the ice fields anywhere to achieve that....but if'n it did, you'd have NY renamed New Venice...LOL....gondoliers poling up and down 42ND Street...maybe that would be the solution to the petrol crisis....even Al Gore would have to paddle his own canoe...LOL.

We here in Southern California have endured another year without summer, the 4th one in a row now. Spring here is characterized by a low-hanging marine layer overcast and daytime temperatures around 68F (20C). Spring carried on all through summer and now extends into autumn.

A characteristic of AGW is you can depend on it saying it's warmer everywhere else but where you are. If you do go somewhere else and it's still cold, the same AGW characteristic still applies. It's always warmer elsewhere.

Reminds me of the 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy', the truck driver who always had a raincloud over him no matter where he went.

I am here in so cal too. The ocean still hits the same place it has for my 60+ years of memory. I can remember it hotter than now. Hell I can remember everyone waiting when the did the bomb tests in nevada and you could feel the shaking - light by still there. And the clouds started blowing very fast west. well they went out in a circle from the envada test site but for us it was west blowing.

lots of people, actually most people, especially the immigrants from the easst look at so.cal. as a garden, but we are really a desert, which is why we bring water from the north to so cal.

it has been pretty mild for a few years and soon we will have a drought. and none of it has anything to do with man made changes in climate.

back in the day the local indians used to call the los angeles basin - "land of the smoke" because we always had smog. we have always had ozone too - as in the earth's ozone layer.

Everything that is happening now has happened before and will happen again, until the sun vinally goes nova and burns the earth to a crisp, in about 5 billion years.

Scientists have noted that because of man-made global warming, parking spaces in Manhattan Beach have become scarce, and almost non-existent in Hermosa Beach.

Global warming in the SF Valley has become so bad that homeowners in Sherman Oaks must have a permit to park on the street in front of their homes in the old Galleria area.

Endangered species have had to resort to building homes so close to Vasquez Rocks that TV commercials must now modify images to remove the buildings from the required desolate landscape.

Sadly, some species just couldn't survive, and no longer can you get donuts from the old Helms truck. We have passed the tipping point.

I loved the Helms bakery and the field trips there and getting a donut at the end of the trip. I loved the bakery truck delivering fresh bread and the milk man delivering fresh milk. and isadore picking up the cleaning, and having so many kids we had offense and defense teams for football, and being out playing all day long and into the night and knowing that no one was going to hurt us and there was no shots fired. when you pumped gas gallons moved faster than dollars, at 15 cents a gallon. that was before federal and state highway taxes, when the money was actually designated for roads but then later used to fund the welfare state.

those were nice days. unfortunately man made global warming and the epa killed them off. then China instituted the one child policy and murder of babies came into vogue.

so you rememback when the great socialist FDR first installed the ponzi sceme called social security that required you to pay into a system where they spent all the money and since most people died at 55 getting retirement at 65 was just a pipedream?
or maybe you remember when FDR decided that we needed mao and the communist chicoms to defeat Japan so he forced the nationalists to arm them and when the war with japan ended - which did not need the help of china - the chicoms attacked and then installed communism - and resulted in the murder of 30 or so million chinese. that would be the same chicoms which is the alrgest poluting country in the world and they are the only ones that can make what fools called man made global warming experts - demand - like dirty batteries, and lightbulbs full of mercury and lead vapor and which need 4 pages of the epa manual to clean one up.

you would also remember arming the USSR - the bastion of communist/marxist society, who were allowed by gutless fellow travelers in America to take all of Eastern Europe and enslave an additional 250,000,000 people and murder another 25 million in the process.

and you would have see the results of that in the korean war, started and supplied by the soviet union and china, costing 35,000 American lives to protect south korean. and let us not forget the result of Viet Nam, when more soviets - as part of another attempt to take over all of south east asia was stopped with the addition of 52,000 dead Americans.

or maybe you remember soviets in cuba, where they tried to put nukes to hit the western world and were again stopped by America.

frankly, your remember WW2 makes you complicit with the surrender of what was gained by 290,000 American dead, by the surrender to communism.

now with all that in your past you want to surrender to the man made global warming freaks. no thank you, i have already seen what you wanted and did get in the past. Enough is enough. your decisions have cost the world hundreds of millions in death, and you don't get even one more.

Ahh, Infantry, the good 'ol days, but never mind....just keep singing, "Happy days are here again...la de dah dah dah...dohh".

You have to admit, with all those shenanigins of World power manipulating, nothing changed, well, not as yo'all wanted it to change, so did the lesson that water can't run uphill ever get through to the people that are your best thinkers and that yo'all put into power to do all those things you disagreed with?

If'n you so strongly disagree with all those things that caused the death of millions, why'd you vote for them......or did you just think that somebody's gotta do the dirty work.

Take China for instance, where would the World be today without the massive economy boost that going Socialist gave them...can you deny that for China going Socialist was a bad thing....well a billion + Chinese can't all be wrong, even if'n 300million Yanks think they're all right.

Somwhere someplace down the line, someone stuffed up bonza, and I wouldn't like to point the finger in case I get accused once more of being a Yank basher, but remember if'n the boot fits....well just wear it...it is a designer boot after....LOL...designed by the people who are your leaders.

Meanwhile back at the ranch in OZ, you know little OZ, the lucky Country....OK you flunked geography in kinder, well anyway....we just got voted in to having a Carbon Tax system to cater for a clean energy future....what more can I say....at least we know where our priorities lay, and we also suscribe to the dictum that you can't go bashing the guts out of the environment forever and expect it to bounce back, so as the longest journey starts with the first step....see you around, hope yo'all'be there.

BTW, just because FDR is being cast as a bogey in the woodpile, doesn't mean the Social provider system is bad.....it just depends on who's the watcher when you put Dracular in charge of the blood Bank.......with a population of 300 million there must be at least one good man/woman who doesn't have vested interests inside of office hours.

I would have to ask you one question....what do you attribute to the China success story that can't be applied to any country to also make it a world leader?

of course chicoms are bad. they had 1/2 billion people and killed off more than 10% just to warm up.
they still have slave labor camps.
they are not free to travel or even elect their own leaders.
what the hell makes you think they are better off than they would have been under the nationalists?
they engage inforced abortion and it is the policy of china to eliminate unneaded words from their language, like sister and brother, aunt uncle and cousins. the one child policy is mass murder.
you have a very strange concept of being better off.
they are also the worlds largest poluter. they are also the worlds greatest theives of technology. they are the perfect leftists - and they are evil.

The perfect Leftists to be sure, and our trading partners now too, and for the record, our best mates when the Japs were doing their thing in WW2, or was Jimmy Doolittle walking on water when he ran out of fuel after the Tokyo raid....seems some people have very short memories.

BTW, my question at the end of the last post wasn't answered...too hard?

Probably not in a world wide recession, since china has replaced (or tried to) most manufacturing around the world, making (dumping) products below their real cost.

Many of the chinese people are now living in the factories like slaves, having moved from the countryside. Is that better ??

(BTW, Looking at the Chinese router forum, most of the customers seem to be from Australia... )

Hi Larken, that's an old bogey..."below actual cost"...in whose bank statement....if'n your costs are a bowl of rice and a dollar a day, then "dumping" on the World market is hardly applicable, it's economics as you have them in your quarter, but if'n you have labour (as in the Western world) at $20 an hour or more, and only skilled or semi skilled workers to press the green button when the red light flashes, then trying to compete against a country with automated processe that deskill the work so that totally unskilled workers can provide your production needs is like pushing sh!t uphill with a very sharp stick.

The West has tried for generations to automate the workplace to deskill the production and increase profits, but the Unions protect the worker, and so you are left with gold plated jobs that won't compete on the foreign markets.

I don't know much about the Chinese routers, but if'n the USA, UK, Europe wherever, produced routers at a lower price they would get an interest from OZ too....it's the price that dictates in all cases.....and if'n you ignore the quality aspect in the cost cutting process...the word gets around and you won't be able to give your products away for free.

You'll never compete unless the playing field is level, and one way to beat a foreign cheap worker based production import is to apply tarrifs, and that makes other problems too.

Sometimes you have to acknowledge the fact that it is futile to compete when you won't use the same methods as your competitor, like a cheaper wage structure, so in that case you have to go to an alternative solution.

The first rule of selling is :- FIND OUT WHAT YOUR CUSTOMER WANTS AND MAKE SURE HE GETS IT......you trade what he wants for what he's got.....competition does not play a part of it.

Competition is when you go broke trying to make the other guy go broker....some people never learn.

If'n you can answer the question as to why a company outsources it's production (Apple Ipad made in China) then you are a major step closer to knowing what economics is all about.......Apple is an American company...why aren't their products made in america?

there is no man made global warming. the earth warms and cools on it's own, and has done it thousands of times. we just came out of 500 years of the little ice age and we are not even as warm as it was in 1000 ad or when the romans took control of the british lands.
and while you can believe what ever stupid thing you want, you are not going to force me or my grandkids to live in some mud hut based on your stupid and childish view of weather.

"Meanwhile back at the ranch in OZ, you know little OZ, the lucky Country....OK you flunked geography in kinder, well anyway..."

OZ. The lucky Country. Little OZ. Flying monkeys, munchkins, Witches, talking scarecrows.. OH! The OTHER OZ.

Sorry, I didn't flunk geography in high school or college (it wasn't offered in 'kinder'), I knew the difference between the continent and the fictional land written about by L. Frank. (a wonderful writer....the J.K. of his day).

How ironic though, that the exchanges here suggest some striking parallels between both the real and the imaginary OZ's.... Colonel Wanker, from the Army of Oogaboo, seems to post here on a regular basis expounding upon the merits of his "lucky country", while the real OZ votes itself into financial oblivion and passes laws against saying anything about it.

I guess if you're really that stupid, it makes perfect sense to vilify a successful country to make yourself appear better.

Better keep them guns buried, Wankie....you'll shoot your eye out.

Sorry Infantry, to dissolusion you, the "living in mud huts" might very well be a way of life for you one day....lots of people in the Third World do it as a way of life because they don't have the means to produce the goods for export cheap enough that anybody else wants...except raw materials, but they have to buy the stuff back once their raw materials have been processed to make more interesting bits of junk they don't need but are encouraged to want.

Your best bet would be to go out into the country and buy up 3 acres or so and get your hands dirty, plant a few vegies and live on the land, generate your own electricity and pump water while you still can....oh and you might want to learn how to build a mud hut as well....LOL.....nothing like being self sufficient.

If'n you want a few tips, look up Mike Reynolds and Earth Ship to see how it's done.

you really need to read more. There is not a place on the earth, where people live in abject poverty, that don't have the natural resources to live as well as in the most industrialized nations on the earth. what they do have that is common to all countries in poverty is a strong centralized government which controls almost every facit of the lives of the people, where all the assets that are located go into the treasury of the central government, and end up in the pockets of the central government.
and what do all these countries have in common, in addition to the aforementioned? a lack of capitalism, and no individual accountability or responsibility.
want to end poverty - allow capitalism to spread without limitation by governments, except to prevent actual theft, or individual control of a market, which in itself, limits true capitalism.

Once again it's the governments fault for self pity and lack of initiative.

The Governments are put in place by the vote of the people, I.E. anyone who can put a cross on a piece of paper.

Perhaps you live in a dream world of what should be happening instead of what is actually happening.

There'll always be a ruling community of those that wish to lead and think they are saviours of the people, while in reality it is the people who become the government when they nominate one of their members to do with them as he/she pleases.

Scrambling up the dung heap is a Human characteristic, purely for self interest types who wish to be feted with the attention of the masses, and the trappings of glory that they enjoy for such a short time.

In every case where Capitalism is applied, there are those that profit and those that make the profit......without exploitation you can not have profitability....and profitability is based upon making the most profit without the need to share it out.

BTW, if'n you go into busines the thing furthest from your mind is profit sharing with those that created the profit, and the thing closest to your mind is how to pay less to those that are the bread winners of your enterprise.
