The Great American Bald Eagle...
I put a pen in front to show the proportions of the lithophane.
The cut area is 12.5" by 8.33" and the material is bone white corian 1/4" stock.
I used a 0.031" ball nose bit.

Hi bsimages,
What software did you use to generate the code? What machine did you use to make this beautiful image? Are you willing to share the feed, speed, stepover, spindle rpm etc.? I will assume that the cutter was carbide.
Thanks,
ErnieD
Experience is the BEST Teacher. Is that why it usually arrives in a shower of sparks, flash of light, loud bang, a cloud of smoke, AND -- a BILL to pay? You usually get it -- just after you need it.
PhotoVCarve is the software, the bit is carbide, the settings are in the attached screen capture, the gCode is a kind of large (20 MBs or 660,000 lines of code!) It took over 15 hours to cut...but was well worth the wait. The machine is homemade of my own design. Here is a good link for how to's: http://www.vectric.com/WebSite/Vectr..._tutorials.htm

Looks great. Do you have flood coolant? Or how do you deal with the dust?
The dust is more like plastic snow...I simply vacuum it up after the job is done.
It is easier than sawdust to deal with.

15 hours!!! ... I bet you were praying for the power NOT to drop out by the 11th or 12th hour, lol.
Nice work !!!
Russell.
I use two UPS's:wee:
One for the PC and CNC machine and one for the router motor. :wee:

Awesome work! absolutely beautiful! thanks for showing us
I love deadlines- I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.
That is totally awesome! I never get tired of looking at lithophanes.
My work is at http://www.Evergraphs.com
This was my first successful lithophane(my fourth actually as the first 3 of this image of my daughter either moved or lifted and cut through the 2mm thick material)
Attachment 215864 Attachment 215866 Attachment 215868
The cut was 193mm x 286mm x 1mm depth of cut (roughly 7.6 x 11.25 inches)with a cycle time of 6 hours 31 minutes...using my mini cnc Chinese router...
