Industrial Hobbies (lH) CNC Mill For Sale

An Industrial Hobbies (lH) CNC mill in great condition. This machine, if you’re not familiar with it, is an excellent transitional tool when you’re upgrading from the small desktop mills, like Taig, to the full-on industrial machines like Mazak, etc. It has a very large work cube (26” x 12” x 22” XYZ travel limits), much larger than any of its competitors.

Our Industrial Hobbies (IH) CNC was part of our business for five years. It took care of us, and we took care of it. It’s now time to move on and let it go. We cleaned and maintained the machine regularly. It’s in very good ready-to-run condition. You can begin making chips with it the day you set it up in your shop.

This IH machine was originally an RF-45 that IH improved greatly. They replaced the Acme screws with high quality, large ballscrews with anti-backlash ballnuts. They added top of the line powerful servomotors with rotary encoders on all 3 axes. They added a top of the line controller (PMDX-126, with the PMDX-107 vfd driver, and a solid Mitsubishi D700 VFD), upgraded the spindle motor to 2hp, and put watertight covers on all components that might have coolant spray on them - the machine is ready for flood cooling! Included is a custom welded steel coolant tray that encloses the entire work envelope of the mill. We built a simple enclosure around the whole machine that keeps the outside area clean while also enabling great visibility of the materials being cut.

This mill is fully wired for fourth axis and includes parts for the 4th axis, including the servo, a rotary table and a tail-stock.
Included is the controller, a Windows 7 computer (with monitor, keyboard and mouse) and a fully licensed and configured copy of Mach3 control software. Also included are some tool holders (30-taper).
When looking to purchase a mill, we deeply researched all the machines out there because we wanted to make our dollars would go as far as possible. At the time, the closest mill to this one in quality was the Haas Mini Mill which sold for $30-$40K. We didn’t have that kind of money, so we went with this one, which, at the time, sold new for $15,000 with all the options.

    Size:
Footprint, including custom coolant pan and enclosure is 48" x 87"
An optional shelf adds 12" to the 87", and the keyboard tray + monitor add another 13" to the 48.

    What it comes with:
It comes with the machine, the stand, the coolant tray, the enclosure parts, the 4th axis parts, a tool cart, and about a dozen tool holders (with the plywood tray) of various sizes.

We'll support it remotely. And, if you're close enough, I'll stop by and help you get the machine up and running. Either way, we'll get you to where it's working in your setup.

As we researched what price to sell this for, we took the time to see what’s out there, and it’s clear that it’s still one of the top CNC mills in its class. We’re asking for half of what we paid for it, $7,500. We want to be fair, and we want it to go to a good home.

We would prefer to have you come and pick it up at its current location - that way we can show you how to set it up and run it. However, if you need it shipped, please let us know, and we’ll give you a quote to crate it and refer you to a reputable rigger (which we’ve used for our own machine moves).

Do you still have the mill? Where are you located?
