    Earth Ground

    Hello,
So I am in the processes of upgrading an old plasma table. We are in a rented shop and are unable to put in a true earth ground for the table. There is a structural beam that goes 10' to 15' into the earth near by. Am I able to tie into that as an earth ground? Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thank you for your time

Yes, you should be able to use this as a earth ground source, but it is also typical to include the service GND at this point.
I am assuming that a earth conductor exists in the service supply?

The True Earth Ground is at your building service Panel that is what you should be using any structural building member should be ok as well, but is not normal that you would use them, so check with your local electrical code requirements or an industrial electrician

    Re: Earth Ground

Just to clarify my post on #2 it was to indicate that the earth ground via the structural beam was the normal practice of grounding a Plasma table with a local ground rod, not to use it as the principle earth ground.
Any local ground rod at the table should always be bonded to the service earth ground.

if you have a plasma with high frequency you may have problems with noise or even failures on electronic boards
