SR 591 - TV error on Fanuc 10M???????Help!

    Hello,

I have recently taken over a shop with an old Mori with Fanuc 10m control that has an odd error that has stumped me. I am repeatedly getting the error "SR 591 TV ERROR" which is described as incorrect number of characters in one block in the manual.
We haven't changed a thing (I wrote down the comm settings 2 months ago to prevent things like this from happening) and I'm trying to send a program that was ran on this very control recently so there shouldn't be anything failing.

Anyone have any ideas here???? Thanks in advance,

    John B

Probabally someone has turned the TVC (T.V. check) on, this can be turned off on the setting screen or bit #0 of Parameter 0000 set to 0
Also set bit #1 P0000 to 0 (CTV).

Thanks, that took care of that issue! Unfortunately that has exposed another one that is real fun. Now the reception of programs halts after about 50 lines and then I have to type in the rest manually, and I can't transmit at all... checked all the port settings and such and have no other programs in memory to consume any of the space.

    Anyone had this one?

Unless there is something wrong with the transmit IC then it could be Hardware Handshake,
I would use a 3 wire cable with the HWHS jumpered out.
    if you are not already.
Also make sure your program is set to XON,XOFF (software handshake).
Make a cable like the PDF attached for the 18M, ignore the settings page.

Had this problem on an old Okuma with 5000M control, eventually tracked it down to a problem with the Bubble Memory. Much cheaper to punch in the last bit if you have a short program.

Always worth trying a lower Baud rate. I always use 4800 on all our machines, Parameter 5112 to a 10. It is a nice steady rate that has never failed me when there is not a hardware problem.

Do you get any errors come up when this happens?, if handshaking is not correct, the NC might be sending a Stop signal, to allow it to deal with what it has received, but your comms software might be carrying on chucking data out.
