Hi,

I have a Excell-O 1987 with Fanuc 6mb-2 controler. It equiped with a tape reader than we not use.

Can we bypass this tape reader to plug the RS232 in some manner?

Can we have the procedure somewere?

Is it a obligation to have something like «Behind Tape Reader» (BTR).

The best way to to run a Fanuc 6M from a PC is to use the tape reader (BTR) connection. There are two ways to do this:

You can connect a parallel BTR cable directly from the Fanuc mother board to a PC's parallel printer (LPT) port. This requires a special parallel BTR cable and special software for the PC. The main disadvantage to this method is that the BTR cable cannot be very long, so the PC must be within about 10 feet of the CNC control.

You can also install a BTR board, then run a serial cable to your PC. This method is more costly, because you need to buy the board, the serial cable, and also some DNC software for the PC. The main advantage to this method is that the cable to the PC can be much longer.

hello i am trying to load factory parameters on a hitachi seiki w/fanuc 6mb through a tape drive and i have never seen a tape reader before any suggestions
