    newbee question

I am trying to build a cnc mill. I have a Mechatronic Driver board and Lin stepper motors. I have it all hooked up and trying to test motors, I using Kcam and notice when I move the motors manually the motors move but I notice a thump about every revolution of the motor. Is this normal or is something set wrong?

...my setup does that too, have you tried to get it to work with Mach? I have yet to get in working with Mach.

Has anyone found out what could be a solution to the problem because I'm experiencing the same phenomena?

...the thumb went away once I mounted them on the mill. The load from the table smoothed out the motors.

I've done some more testing and I think I've found the cause for the mysterious thump (at least in my case). I'm running KCAM on an older laptop (~400 Mhz) and each time the plot was updated, motors would get stalled for a moment. When I disabled position update in the settings the thump was gone and motors are now running much smoother.
