Shallow Interrupted Cut in Aluminum creating burrs

    Hello,
I need some ideas on how to turn the OD on this part I am reworking, I am skimming the OD on the aluminum stators of an electric motor. Typically I only have to take between .001-.006 off the diameter. Due to the shallow DOC and the Interrupted cut I am pushing a burr up on the edge of each stator which takes a very long time to deburr. I think that the fact that inserts are rubbing instead of cutting may be part of the problem so I have ordered some 0 radius inserts to try to help but i am not positive that will fix the problem. Any input is greatly appreciated. I attached pictures so you can see what I am referring to.

if you Ok with only taking 0.001 finish pass, use a shear tool to shave it smooth w/o burrs. Similar to a skiving tool, but unlike commercial skive tools that run well below center-line, I grind my own shear tool from 1/2 SQ HHS, and mount it on center like a regular lathe too. as it dulls, raise or lower it about .015" to new section of cutting edge. The cutting edge is slanted lower left to upper right on a vertical plane. Shavings look like very fine angel hair. Can take from 0.0003" to 0.001" DOC. Finish is very smooth.
