How CNC lasers manage such high feed speeds?

I can't find any info online as to what drive mechanism they use to achieve such high acceleration and speed (more than 100m/min) (could someone translate this to inches/minute)

I've heard that some machines achive up to 6G of acceleration and 5m/second which is insane!!

Of course, lasers don't have to deal with any cutting forces so they can make the gantry as light as possible, but still I think we could learn a lot by looking at the design and mechanism of such machines.

Not sure if this applies to the lasers you're talking about but many cnc gantry lasers only move a small mirror, the actual laser tube, etc, is fixed. And because of no cutting forces, everything is optimized for being light instead of being able to withstand force.
Just a very different set of engineering and design requirements!

Most laser use the mm/sec designation for speed.

    100meters/min = 1666mm/sec

    Or 65inch/sec
    Or 3900in/min

The highest end Epilog and Trotecs have no problem reaching these speeds. I think the Trotec Speedy goes even faster. These machines are belt driven with fast servo motors.

My cheap 40watt laser is capable of 500mm/sec and is just using simple nema17 stepper motors.
