Hi all, we are about to buy our first CNC wood router and it would be fantastic if someone could help us deciding on the spindle:
- We are almost decided to go for this machine https://www.quickcncrouter.com/produ...router-ua-481/ around $18K plus shipping we have friend that bought it few years ago and they are happy on the purchase
- We will use it in a "makerspace" set up, meaning not operating it 24/7 but for smaller jobs on a weekly basis and occasionally for longer jobs (2 or 3 days for 6 hours each) on a monthly basis.
- We are looking for a automatic tool changer (in this case linear) and vacuum table based in our previous experience with CNC without those and the limitation of more sophisticated jobs when tools and stock need to be re positioned manually
- We will be cutting MDF and ply mostly from 10mm up to 25mm and very occasionally small sections (2x4 inches or so) of solid timber for furniture joinery
The machine comes with the following spindle -6KW Italy HSD ATC ES951/9.6KW/ISO30/24000rpm- Some friends have told us that this size is too much for the needs described above and they are recommending to get something less powerful. The manufacturer offers this one 4.5KW HSD ATC ES950/4.5KW/ISO30 24000rpm with a $700 discount on the listed price.
Our main concern is that we will have to bring up our installed power in the workshop for a machine that it wont be used all the time so we will be paying a significant higher flat rate for electricity which will add substantially in the mid and long term.
Would a 4.5KW spindle cover our demands? is $700 a reasonable discount for the smaller spindle? Any other recommendations regarding this purchase?
Many thanks for all your help in advance!!!
