Cable used for motor/encoder to gantry

Building a new machine, ready to order wire. Been investigating and seems continuous flex cable is the best to use. What cable is being used in the gantry, as the continuous flex is expensive. I will use it if that is what is squired, but want to understand what options I may have.

    thanks

Re: Cable used for motor/encoder to gantry

For the total price it won't make a big difference, I would advice one continues flex cable from the motor or sensor to the controller . Each extra connection ( between two cable types ) is a extra risk of a bad contact later on.
