    Exclamation Stepper for Spindle Speed

Hi! I want to retrofit a Lathe with 2 axis movement. I want to use a stepper for the spindle movement (rotation). is it possible to make a continious movement at high speed (about 1300 RPM) on large times with and stepper?.

A srepper would be a poor choice for the spindle. Steppers lose torque rapidly as speed is increased.

I would reccomend a three phase motor and VFD. Inexpensive and much more capability.

thanks for the response!! but I still have a question: it is possible to make a follow up of position and speed of the spindle with an encoder an a G-Rex or PMDX? a mind for threading.
