    atc problems

    I have a Vmc 4020
The atc will not move to the spindle with the m6 command or tc,1
the voltage at the relay board is good but the relay is not energizing.
in the di-ds page all of the switches are working ok.the circuit breaker is not tripped.not getting any voltage to the atc motor.

    ANY IDEAS................

Air pressure good? Does the spindle orient? Is Z-axis at EXACTLY toolchange height? Will the machine run a simple program without toolchange?

If the relay is not energizing, then something is prohibiting the control from entering into the tool change cycle. First thing to determine is at what point is the tool change cycle not engaging:
1)Head returns to cold start/tool change position
    2)spindle orientates sensor for orisp = 1
3)atc slide moves to spindle sensor for atc home=0 atcextnd=1
    4)drawbar opens sensor for drwbr=1
5)turret rotates sensor for turret =1 for every index
    6)head returns to Z0
7)drawbar closes sensor for drwbr =0
    8)slide retracts sensor for atchome =1 atcextnd=0
    9)tool change complete
If at anytime the atcfault prox switch =1, then the tool change sequence will halt.
Even though you checked the relays, did you also check fuses, and make sure the slide moves to the spindle smoothly by hand, look for chip build up on the track for the slide.
    Hope this helps.
