Guys, whats the formula to find the thread of say a grinding wheel spindle ( 10" dia) i need to make a new flange to mount on it to accompany a balancing head on the wheel. I need to find what type of thread is on the spindle to make the new nut.

    thanks,

Don't you have thread pitch gauges? You can find the at your local hardware store, and they come standered with tap and die sets.
Make sure you clean my wrench before you put it back into my toolbox.

krismcneil, Your profile says "man. eng.". Is that the same as Manufacturing Engineer (Mfg. Eng.)? If so, you are going to need "the source", Machinery's Handbook, which contains thread formulea, thread measuring methods and most everything else you will eventually need concerning machining. If you don't have a copy, I'd strongly suggest getting one.
