Connecting an MPG to the SMC5

Confusion........I wish there was a simple explanation like the green wire of the MPG goes to pin #18 of the DB26 on the SMC5.

I know IN1 and IN2 of the DB26 and IN1 and IN2 of the input port are connected internally to each other but what color wire is connected to them on the DB26? What is CN connected to on the DB26? What is the Red/Black wire for?

    Thanks.
