    What are "linear guides"?

On the advertisement for the steel structure 6040 machine it says "* Please contact us if you want Linear guides!". What are these and what significance are they?

Are you buying some DIY kit?
Linear guides are the part of a machinetool with any linear movement axis.
It's also possible that spelling checker mistakenly updated the initial idea intended to be "Linear encoders". These are optional normally.

They may mean profile / square linear rails (which don't have a well defined name) like Hiwin / THK

Instead of the default round rails or round supported rails (SBR16 etc)
