Does anyone know of a BT30 1/8" end mill tool holder that has a projection length of less than 1.75"? I need one to hold an engraving bit, and I'm hoping to find something closer to 1". Thanks!

There are a few options this is one of the shortest Tool Holders you can get, this would use a ER collet
Rego-Flex BT30/ER11 2130.11110
ERA Zero-Z
You may be able to use this also, but would have to make a Holder to fit your cutter

What i use for engraving is an endmill extension from genswiss called Ti-Loc
the ones that i use fit a er16 tool holder 16mm and 25mm long they also have a screw to allow you to swap tools to the same length

I don’t think the genswiss products are quite what I need, but thanks for the input! I have some 1/8” tools that I need to engrave a face, but I’m having some clearance issues so I’m trying to find a shorter tool holder. After looking at those Rego-Fix tool holders it seems their projection length is 1.97”, which is unfortunately too long for me. That 1” tool holder from eBay looks promising, but I can’t find a 1/8” tool holder that size, the smallest I can find is for 1/4”. The smallest bit I need to hold is .005” x 1:8” shank, so I’m worried about runout on some type of adapter I make. Anyone know of a better solution, or precision 1/4” to 1/8” shank adapters? Thanks!
What type of cutter are you using
The runout would be as accurate as what you can make the adaptor you get a piece of Ground bar and machine and lap the hole to suit your cutter, the best way to retain the cutter is with Loctite been doing small cutters this way for years, you can use a shrink fit or Loctite both ways are excellent for cutters like this

From Alibab you can get BT30 split collets that have virtually zero projection, they use an M12 drawbar. If you used say a 10mm or 12mm collet (or imperial equivalent) then make an adapter from steel with a carefully drilled and reamed hole for the cutter and loctite the cutter in place, as suggested by another respondent. This way you can make the projection almost as small as you want.
