Hello, all,

I just received access to a Boss Laser cutter/engraver. This hardware is driven by RDWorks software, but RDWorks can accept any file in a variety of formats, including .dxf.

There's only one copy of RDWoods in the shop I have access to, the copy controlling the Laser cutter. It looks like RDWorks can be a free download, from the Boss Laser site, but it seems as if it's a Windows-only program.

From what I know of my limited experience, a time-consuming part of laser cutting is setting up the job, with various scan and cutting speeds and powers. Are there any programs that run under Linux can can generate the .rdl file format that RDWorks natively uses? I know I can run RDWorks under Wine, but I've never had any success with this method.

I don't need anything to actually download the file to the laser, just something that can generate the .rdl file, so I can read it into RDWorks, then send it on to the laser.

Thanks for any suggestions or advice.
