I own a Redsail RS3040, but I'm not happy with the machine when cutting. Since it has different resulution on X and Y direction (1000 vs 2000) it cuts much deeper in one direction. And since the included software isnt that good I have been thinking about rebuild the machine using 2 step motor drivers (routoutcnc has a kit for £88 with to step motor drivers and a break out card) and use the LinkMotions software (expensive ) to drive it.
Before I start I wounder if anyone has any experience of LinkMotions for CO2 lasers?
Does anyone know about some "cheaper" alternative to LinkMotion (which adjust the power of the laser depending on X-Y speed)
Does anyone know how the power of the laser is controlled in the RS3040? Is it by PWM(?) pulses? The max. power can be adjusted using a potentiometer at the laser unit, and than the power used when doing raster work can be adjusted in the Easy cut software.
Any thing else to think about?
