Re: HELP NEEDED - OKUMA LB 10 ATC

On one of the pages it shows switch positions. ie. On or off
There are 12 tools and seven switches
That work on a cam system ..

    It's a 80s machine

I think I'll pull the turret off as I'm sure there is something going on inside , making it stick etc

If anyone has a diagram of the turret ?????? Thanks in advanced

Re: HELP NEEDED - OKUMA LB 10 ATC

I have managed to find a Diagram of the turret.

Can anyone give me ideas as to how i take off the TURRET ( rotary carousel that holds all the tools).
I have attached a photo of the Turret and a screen shot of the parts manual......
All the bolts on the turret are off and the thing is not moving, Im thinking i need like a bearing puller to move it

Any ideas ??? anyone ?Attachment 501490Click image for larger version.

are tapers ( pins ) removed?
I guess, you need to release the draw tube at the cylinder end and remove it pulling to the front.

Looks like the taper Pins are not there, very hard to tell. Are taper pins hollow ? generally ?
I can stick a 6mm drill through the hole.
But when looking at the hole can see like a bush inside ?

So , sounds like stupid question but are the taper pins hollow ?

    Nah, not a silly question....
They have a thread to allow various forms of extraction.
(ie. Screw + washers, pulling the pin thru a spacer.... or, to allow use of a "slide hammer").

Pins are used to roughly align a drill holder to the spindle, & then removed for final alignment. Having no pins allows the turret to "slip" if any heavy crash occurs.
This is how X zero is referenced as machine origin.

    Great information , thank you
I will have another look today, I can't say I saw any thread where the taper is / was But will take a better look.
Once I start getting to the pieces all will become clear. Looks like I may have to apply some heat to the centre section of the turret to pull it off as I can see slight rust on the shaft ...any problems in doing this ??? Apart from maybe wreaking some o rings??

    check twice.before heating.
As per illustration, are the flange 10 and pipe 11 removed? and again flange and pipe 7 and 8 ?
or maybe the real thing looks different from the picture?

No, the Flange 10 and pipe 11 is still on , but i cant see how they would attach or keep the turret from separating.

Further inspection and the taper pins or where they go i cant see any thread so i think the taper pins are removed
