Newbe to the laser topic forum

    Hello all, I recently upgraded from a Gravograph IS400 CNC to a Boss HP2040 150w CO2 laser
    Man what a difference!
So many things are different so a learning curve is coming
I will try to look over previous posts to keep my questions from being redundant

So first question, videos and sites that talk about how they got their settings put Power and speeds in percentage yet never say what the max of each is.
I believe that at 150w @ 33mm/sec it will fry a manilla folder

    Your thoughts?

hello , mainly in laser machines , you can use 3 mm acrilic as a guide of speed , 100 w laser machine can cut to a speed of 40 mm/seg then 150w speed should be around 55 mm/seg , power around 100/80 ( poer /corner power) in the case of paper, thin folder , sponge and others easy to cut speed around 100 mm/seg and cutting power reduced to 50/30
I hope this information cand be helpfull
    best wishes

    Yes it does
Only thing is that the terns are different
I'm guessing that it is a typo (mm/sec)
That is the stuff that confuses me

I have 5mm that cuts fine
    I'll get some 3mn
