Question Replacing PSU with higher wattage PSU CO2 Laser

Hi I have a K40 Laser "700mm Tube" and the PSU just **** it self.

I can wait 2-4weeks to get one.
    or...
I can pick up a, what is advertised as a 60W PSU, but the model indicates a 80w "Cloudray MYGJ80W" see attached. for a good price as a quick fix.

I do not need the same pinouts as old PSU as I have replaced the controller and only use HV side of PSU to run Laser.

My thoughts where to use the MYGJ80W PSU till I get a 40W replacment to get me out of trouble.

The Blown 40W PSU Specs: MYJG-40W
    25KV
    20ma

    The quick fix MYGJ-80W
    26KV
    28ma

My intention is to limit the power on the replacment PSU

I have searched this with a bit of confusion, have noticed comments like tube is only 10-12ma and start voltages/current and so on.

    cheers.

Hello , look in to the new power supply , it has a small hole , you can use a small crewdriver flat to adjust the potentiometer/ veriable resistor to the desirable current , if for any reason can not adjust you can send the files from computer SW with lower power and it will work well
    Good luck

I was of similar opinion that I can turn down the power to suit the tube, anyway if it stuffs the tube ill have to buy a bigger one

I have picked her up and it has a small hole with what looks like a smal pot.
If this does not work I will limit it in the software.

I will do more of a report late on how I went.

So far all good, I am back up and operational.
I will report back if I experiance any problems over time resulting from the higher output PSU.

Picked up a brand new MYGJ-80W , could not resist when it was for $40 AUD and 5 min up the road from me.

Thanks to lasersparts reply identifying a max power adjust/set pot accesible from side of PSU enabled me to limit the Max power of the PSU

I have attached Pics of the PSU and the location of the power level Set/Adjust pot.
Thie location will change with varying models/brands and some may not have it at all.

I turned the pot counter clock wise all the way, then I turned it clock wise 2 turns and performed a Laser burst test fire.
Checking the Laser current power meteriIt read 6 mA.
I turned the Set/Adjust Pot and test fired untill it was 12mA on Max Power.

Previously my Power meter was firing at up to 15mA, i noticed some posts sugesting it should be in the 10-12mA.

What should be the max mA setting for a 40w tube?

Hope this helps others in the future.
