    Post Estop and Light Curtain

On my Omni CNC, when the OP breaks the light curtain or Hits the E Stop the Z axis crashes down 3-4 inches. Everything looks to be in tact electrically. What am I missing?

    Bad Z brake maybe?

That is my first assumption after getting panels opened up. Also might replace the cylinder why I have it all open. Hasn't been cleaned in years it looks like.

If it has a counterbalance cylinder, then that might be the problem.

I have seen this on lathes with heavy vertical X axis where the hydraulic stop valve has failed.
I should add, this was on the counter balance hydraulics.
