I'm using this Motor with a VFD on a lathe conversion..

I'm currently running it at 60hz maximum. But somewhere I thought I saw that people were able to run it at 120hz.

Anyone running this motor at higher than 60hz?

I'm not an expert but I know people run these motors at higher frequencies to get more speed. However torque should drop some and a better cooling is required.

I have a similar motor on my lathe. 1.5kw 1500 RPM. The speed is ok with me. Actually I don't run it higher than 900 RPM.

The Spec Sheet says "Inverter Rating --- Not Compatible".

I have the same motor, although a C-face version, on my G0704 mill, powered via a Hitachi VFD. We routinely run the motor a 120 HZ. I believe the caveat on the spec sheet that indicates 'not compatible' for inverter duty is because the stator windings aren't cooked with an inverter duty varnish. This really doesn't matter much...it's a 'cover your ass' kind of clause by Leeson. I've run many old motors on frequency drives and have never blown through a winding...it'll be fine.

I have typically ran 4 pole motors such as this at 120Hz with no problem, the oldest was a 1958 30ft rail planer I converted to CNC.
