I have thought about making a plastic extruder to fit to my bridgeport and writing a bit of software to convert a model into gcode. It would be a fun project to get into but I don't have time right now.

I have also been looking at the projects, but I do wonder whether it would be better to have an extruder fitted, and them some software, perhaps something that can outoput code for Mach3, maybe use the coolant option to run the extruder?
any other ideas on what could be used to control it? perhaps just use spindle control, rpm = rate of material etc

Check out this concept, very cool.
