The Viper opto common lead is connected to +5 and the step or dir line needs to get pulsed low and then high.
The line should sit high.
thanks for your reply routerman.
najnielkp,
What type of breakout board are you using? I am getting ready to start work on my mill and am wondering how you are doing it. Other than that how is your machine working?
Thanks,
Brian
hello brian,
almost finished.
had a problem with losing position, but not all the time.removed the breakout and now no problems.the viper drives have isolation already.
second pport connected to encoder interface board and mpg from rogers machine for the inputs and 4 relays with charge pump function.
perhaps its me but i have never had much success with opto breakout boards.
even with setting mach3 into sherline pulse length.
i am driving some gettys motors with the vipers. these things are big, 7 inch dia.
i am very satisfied with the product, having tried to use the rutex 2040 drives which would pop mosfets frequently.
