Fanuc O-M Leadwell CNC mill 086 P/S alarm

    Hi guys

I'm trying to load a program for the first time to my Fanuc O-M using NC link.
I keep getting this error 086 P/S Alarm.
A bit of history on the machine, the Parameters had to be reloaded some time ago so maybe this has something to do with it??
Are there any parameters i should look for and check for uploading programs?
Using an RS 232 cable, USB to 25 pin connector.
I basically press send on the PC then read on the machine and pops up with the error. Same with Punch.

I've been trying to get this machine running for a while with little success.

    Thanks guys
    Hope someone can help.

    Sounds like parameters.
Hopefully you had a accurate options file to enable Reader/Puncher interface and its just a matter of getting the comms parameters set.
There are a few involved with serial communication. They need to be set to match your DNC software.
    A parameter manual would help.
Some settings are found on the "Settings" screen as well as in parameters (ISO, Channel, and TVC).
The most basic Parameters associated with communication.
    0000 ISO,TVC
    0020 Device selection (0 = RS232 port 1. most common setting)
    0101 SB2,NFD, ASI
    0102 Device type (4 = RS232 DC1 to DC4 not used. Most common setting)
0103 Baud rate (must be set to match PC setting)

Thank you. I'll try finding these settings in parameters. I can get to parameters and enable. I'll try finding these specific settings you outlined. I might even take some pictures.????

Parameter manual would be great but the technician who worked on this machine 4 months ago hasn't returned my manual after calling him so many times. But that's another issue unfortunately ????

I think the cable is good. It's a new cable.
The error occurs as soon as I press read then input.

can you post a photo with the cable:
can you confirm that the 9-25 pin adaptor is corect for Fanuc controller?

Tried both Null modem and Full Handshake. LSK continues to flash when trying to load program.
Punch to PC in Null Modem LSK turns off.
Punch to PC in Full Handshake LSK continues to flash.
I now have my book with Parameters if that helps this situation?

Re: Fanuc O-M Leadwell CNC mill 086 P/S alarm

Hi guys I've had some success.
So now i have made up the cable, i believe its correct. I now have LSK flashing on the CNC screen which i could never get before.
It looks like the program loads on but doesn't actually load, LSK continues to flash. No errors appear but i think if the program loaded correctly LSK should stop flashing? And the program number should appear on the CNC screen?
Ill post a picture of the settings, maybe this is the issue?

those are the areas.. The setting values haven't changed much from one series to another. If you have another manual to reference.

Unfortunately I don't have the manual. I'll have a look at another manual I do have but I think it's more about electrical diagrams etc

Alarm 071 means DATA NOT FOUND-""The address to be searched was not found. Or the program with specified
program number was not found in program number search.
    Check the data.""

This should be enough for setting

On the PC software i use 4800 or 9600 for baudrate, stop bits 2,data bits 7,parity even.

    Hi zaateandu
    Thanks for this.
Just trying to make sense of this and make sure i have this correct.

(Baud rate) Example i just choose serial 1, i go to I/O and punch in the numbers 0 or 1?
Parameters 0552 and 0553 i can punch in values 1 to 12 which has baud rate of 50 to 19200?

(Stop Bits) im a little confused with 0002#0. I see 00020 on my machine without #

Re: Fanuc O-M Leadwell CNC mill 086 P/S alarm

    Hi,
I assume you have a USB - 9 pin modem cable with the correct 9 pin to 25 pin adapter, there's no USB to 25 pin cable !!
When all hardware and software settings are correct it should work.
Btw. to prevent problems with your switches below your screen buy yourself a (cheap) new keypad membrane at FANUC for the 7 keys.
Even the keypad membranes [ PROGRAM - SOURCE ] - [ OPERATION SELECT ] etc. ect. for the FANUC 0M control are still for sale.
They are a few hundred dollars but it will pimp up your machine a lot.

    Regards,

So today was very productive with some luck.
As mentioned I've been chasing down the technician who had my parameters service book.
Well i walk into Jaycar electronics today to buy the 9 and 25 pin connectors and cable. Guess who i walk into at Jaycar (5 miilion people in Sydney) yes i walk into the CNC technician who had my book in his car for like 5 months! So yes i now have my book.
