how do i have to setup my tool for this. it says my settings are incorrect. and when i do set them up and do lets just say a 3" square, it assigns the tool path to the center of the tool. i have a .25" dia 90 degree pointed chamfering tool and it is leaving a crazy burr from the point. is there a way to offset this so it is say .020" - .030" away from the center point of the tool?

well since no reply, i found a way to cheat it to make it work. i just made the tool .030 and had it cutter comp on the left or right depending on which way it was cammed, and then set my z to my liking of the finished part. wo0t

Tx, be careful about programming the cutter size too small. The tool is weak, has very little clearance and the surface speed is very low.

This is what I do:
For a .500" cutter, I program the size to .400" or so, then set the depth to .230". That will leave a .030" chamfer on a 45 degree cutter with a sharp point. (.400/2 = .200 + .030 = .230)

If you use a spot drill for chamfering, subtract .020"-.030" from the total depth because they are not ground to a sharp point.
