I had a 3000 series machine installed in April and it doesn't have any problems with tool changes. When the machine was first installed the installer somehow performed a toolchange but the spindle was closed and it crashed into the toolholder. This bent the aluminum extrusion that stores the toolholders. Since that time I've never had a problem.

Maybe there is some kind of alignment problem with the spindle and toolholder during the toolchange.

Yes, you have to clean the tool holders and the inside of the spindle regularly. If you don't, the tool holoders will stick. Even though the air release is on, the holder will stick and it will pull hard and possibly break the plastic clip off.
