    My Initial Setup-Taig/Xylotex/Mach 3/DeskProto

    Hello, all.

Just wanted to show off my set-up in its first iteration.

Of special note is the high-speed spindle I fabbed up from some HDPE and a Bosch Colt palm router.

Thanks to Nick Carter of www.cartertools.com for his assistance and great customer support.

    Best,
    John Bear Ross

    taig setup

    very cool.

So you said Mech's and tanks. Stuff for GW or some other. I would be interested in seeing your work. Are you cutting directly into white metal?

I have a taig myself as well and cut directly in white metal.

I'd love to know your speeds and feeds for working white metal, as well as which cutters you're using. I'm experimenting right now with Blue Machineable wax, Nylon 6/6, Delrin, and UHMW PE.

I did a number of builds for Reaper Miniatures' game, Combat Assault Vehicle, or CAV. Most were done on a Modelmaster II 3D printer, lost-waxed into silver, and then vulcanized normally.

Link on my page is http://www.johnbearross.com/reaper.htm

I've also done a number of starships for Cold Navy, and a few builds for Wizkids' latter-day version of Battletech called Mechwarrior.

    Best,
    John Bear Ross
