I'm in the preocess of tuning this mill with a dynomotion controller and wanted to know if anyone knows the encoder counts per inch? I can't find any literature about this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The most for sure way is to take the cap on the end of the motor off to see the encoder and read the model number and usually they have the count # listed.
Did you install the dynomotion controller your self?

It has to be at least 10,000 ( 1 / 10,000 = .0001 inch original step resolution )
If I am remembering correctly it is exactly 10,000 counts per inch.

hi all its 125 lines encoder that gives in full round 500 steps.
and motor and screw is 1 and 2 ratio. it gives 200 step in one mm.

The Heidinehen encoders were used on machines with the Heidinehen control. The R2E3 was a Bridgeport control ( BOSS 8 ). They used SEM motors and BEI encoders.

If anyone is still interested the Bridgeport Boss 8 & 9 (R2E3, R2E4) use 250 ppr encoders which gives you position accuracy of .0005 per step. Taken from the manual.
Hilbilly,
I have a series 2 Boss8, It has the heidenhain encoders on it. I am pretty sure they are 500 count encoders but I will look tonight. I am pretty sure the screws on mine are .1" lead as well.
