    Robodrill Turret

Has anyone stripped a robodrill turret to service it. Mine is making a horrible noise and is a t14ia. Just curious if anyone had any guidance or pictures.

On a Robodrill turret you have 2 bearings i think 6011 and 6013 ZZ ,not sure,in the main shaft and 16 steel balls that are running on a groove.
you have to change the bearings and regrease the back side where the steel balls are running on the groove.
    Good luck

There are cases of this noise being caused by a parameter issue and gain being too high.
As the mechanics wear the static friction becomes less and the spindle servo gain is too much causing oscillation making this noise also.

Ok thank you for the info. Zavateandu do you know if you can undo the large castle nut in the centre while it’s still on the machine and take the turret off or will the ball bearings just go everywhere and make it difficult to put back on.

you have to put a box under the turret while you take out the nut and the turret as the balls will fall down, after service and grease a lot the balls will stick to it and you will assembly safe
the torque on the nut will be around 30% of spindle load when doing tool change as a tip
