    mastercam programming with surface using comp on machine

    whast surface operation are u using in mastercam 2023 to be able to use comp on machine controller trying to use probing at machine and being able to comp with probe at controller?

    Basic compensation on any cnc machine is only in 2 axis, with the 3rd controlling the planar slice
    Ie
    For a mill using G17 plane, comp occurs in the XY co-ordinates, Z is NOT controlled by a comp.
    For a lathe.... uses the G18 plane (XZ) for turning, milling still uses 2 planes... but depends on what additional axis the lathe possesses.

    3D comp is possible on higher end machines, either by use of only ballnose tooling, or machines capable of using vector addresses in the NC code. in the program.

    Mastercam does not output compensation codes on surfacing toolpaths, it also is NOT applied to any rotary axis.
