    Hardinge conquest GT27 SP

Hello I was wondering how do most people set up there tools on a Gang tool lathe, do you keep them in order 1234 from front to back etc or are they all over the place, do you stick out your turning tools to allow for the length of the part or do you have the turning tools go pass on the side. how about a cut-off tool do you keep it on the front or the back of the slide? I guess it all works, just wondering what's the best way to go. thanks.

I was under the belief that the most common crash is between chuck jaw and adjacent tool next to the one in-use.

I set tools depending on Z distance to next tool AND where it is used in the X axis
Ie. Boring bar & drill NOT next to each other when machining short stock

It should also be considered on the quantity you need to make... if you can knock seconds off per cycle on a large quantity run can save many hours.

Take care on proving first run.... it would miss for the others, if there is no change.
