Cutting heat proof material. Is it safe?

It's a non-asbestos heat proof pad, rigid, one quarter inch thick. It's off white with sparkly bits and I need to mill a fancy insulating washer out of it.

Anyone know this stuff and what it is made of? Came without a HazMat sheet. It feels like a cross between MDF and a ceramic wall tile.

Just wondering if I need to take extreme dust precautions and cut under water?

When in doubt, take the safest route.

I think I know the material you are talking about. If it's the material I think it is, it's really brittle and hard. I have no idea what it is.

    Good luck and be careful!
