Hello! I have a older Fadal 4020 . It is a all DC machine and the Baldor spindle controller has gone out.
It is a Baldor unit,
Am I stuck with going back with a Baldor unit ($3100.00) or is there a way to do it more affordably with another brand?

The Glentec spindle drive from ITSCNC.com is an excellent unit and works on all Fadals.

Any VFD will work. I replaced mine with a Hitach WJ200. You will have to figure out the logic, which is easy. Word of advice, add an external braking unit and resistor. The braking transistor in the WJ’s is weak.
