    Post PROGRAMMING RADIUS

I have a program running in my Okuma Lathe and am wondering how I would program a 1/64 radius on my workpiece. There are 3 places on the workpiece that require a radius, the positions on my axis are:

    A. X7.8740 Z-0.0450
    B. X1.1795 Z-0.4695
    C. X0.9500 Z-0.0450

Here's a drawing to make it easier, I am wondering how to get the radius at these three points. I am unsure how to write the G Code for this.

exactly the same as every element of shape. Use G02 of G03, depending at what side ( left or right ) the workpiece is from the feeding line.
At this moment the tool tip radius is important.

How do I write the code for those dimensions? I'm new to coding.

...read the manual and teach yourself how to radius/chamfer 90 degree corners. I think its as simple as adding a R or K value to the end of the block

GM programming is far away from coding, dear. Doesn't matter, never mind.
Take whatever part program from your machine and analyse it step by step. Check, if you have animation ( most Okuma lathes have ) and lock the machine.
Then machine will not move, you can play all on animation. Easy.
And google. You know, there is google and youtube where you can find tons of tutorials, samples and explanations.

Okuma do not use R as they use an L on the lathe just so you know

maybe it's sn option? I used only R (on different Okumas), since it's easy.

Okuma eventually learned to use R but took them along time to get past Fanuc codes widely used by other manufactures -------Easy way when they moved away from I J K to L

hy, for a while i thought that is because lathe axis are dia&rad, while mill's are rad&rad, thus 2:1 vs 1:1

in the end, i can easy postprocessit, and no longer care what, as before g-code is old stuff kind of thing .. still king, but

I use mastercam 19 and right back to 3 and i can tell ya most software is to slow and the closer you stay to G code basics the more you can walk away from a job and not get called back every ten mins to fix -----------Macro with proper structure yrs ahead of all the purchased software i find

    Re: PROGRAMMING RADIUS

G code part program easier to understand and update when needed. Easy to relate to the drawing in case when the shape is regular geomethrical.
When you have complex 3D surfaces, then all the CAM software play.

hy mr bunny, i was more reffering to that kind of thing when you said that some brand simply does not use g-code, but invented some similar language

like at some point, you can abstractize the g-code even more; like whatever makes that machine tick

I don't remember that. What I said is that some ( European ) companies do not follow the G-Code European ( DIN ) standard.
