From time to time I want to do a quick measurement on a work piece to check the width or depth, and I use the slow method of probing the left side of the piece and writing down the that number from my offset page, and then probing the right side and getting out the calculator to determine the difference to give me my width.

Is there a quicker way that would probe both sides and then display the width right on the screen?

My haas is running the pre NG controller.

calipers , micrometers depth micrometer is going to be faster and more accurate . I would never trust measurements taken from the machine that made the part
