does anyone know the new retail cost in usd for the vision express dongle ?

Vision Express is probably still one of the many versions of Cadlinks Signlab. Anytime you have a "missing" dongle, even if YOU were the original owner, they will treat the issue only by having you buy an entire new copy of the program, essentially assuming you are a criminal trying to "steal" a second copy from them. It sucks, but that is their right for overpriced software. I still own older versions of both the Cadlink side as well as the Vision side. Honestly, I seldom use either anymore unless I am doing some massive, and I mean massive amounts of text engraving.... they do have a pretty decent method for that.

What is your right is to buy something that does not have a dongle from a company who would rather TRUST their users. Vectric Products are incredible for the money. Seriously Incredible. V-Carve can do plenty of text work with slightly different Kerning type options, but it's completely doable. (I dont think they can trickle serial numbers or names off a text file yet though).

What I am not sure of at this moment in time, is if Vision in conjunction with Cadlink, somehow made the machine itself not work or be recognized unless you are using VE.

To which point, I'd happily dump VE's proprietory controller for one of a dozen readily available G-Code controllers. I've done that too, on Vision, New Hermes and Multicam machines.

Proprietary, Schmietary..... overpriced stuff with an attitude.
